Workshop at Global Wind Summit 2018: Challenges of Different Safety Cultures

The workshop on safety culture in the wind industry took place with 30 participants on 27 September 2018 at the Global Wind Summit in Hamburg

It was organised by VDMA Power Systems’ Wind Industry Safety Culture Initiative and the six leading wind turbine manufacturers.

Representatives of the manufacturers of wind turbines and their suppliers discussed as to how Safety Culture has found its way into companies in general and how it can be implemented.

The chair of the working group is held jointly by Uwe Sarrazin, Head of Global Education & Learning at GE Renewable Energy, and Gerhard Allgaier, Head of Sales and Project Support at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energies.

The Working Group Wind Industry Safety Culture is an international initiative of the wind turbine manufacturers Enercon, GE, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energies, Nordex Acciona, Senvion and Vestas together with their subcontractors and suppliers. Under the umbrella of the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association VDMA Power Systems, this initiative is targeting to implement an industry wide safety culture for the wind industry to become a safer place to work.
